As time moved through Cityscape, Summer's long, high-hung, sunny days slowly faded. Evenings drew closer, the horizon painted in the rich, deep hues of orange. As nature readied itself for hibernation, the green and lush vibrance of life was swapped out for earthly tones. The breezes surged, a chill attached to their tailed ends. The smell of leaves, dirt, and campfires perfumed the air. Most notable were the absent sounds of children at play. In its place were alarm clocks and school bells.

Autumn was upon the inhabitants of Cityscape, and classes were back in session.

Traditionally, right before homecoming season, the community at large gathered to raise funds for all the schools across the realm.

A charity event! A night where the hosting school showed off its capabilities. Members of high society were invited and also expected to whip out their checkbooks and stroke their egos. For councilmen and other leaders, it was a time to show they cared (in hopes to boost their numbers later for reelection).

Above all else, the occasion focused on the citizens in support of the next generation dressed in the tastes of fall.

This year, South District University (or SDU for short) was selected to host. As an influential and prestigious school, all the stops were pulled. One wing of the school was turned into a haunted house. There were hayrides, pumpkin carving contests, and food. Oh, so much food paired with several kinds of beer! Each minor event was sponsored by a sorority or fraternity. Faculty and students alike were greatly encouraged to show up and show off.

The main event was a corn maze! The horticulture science students had carefully crafted the event. They temporarily converted the football field to grow corn and, with it, the maze. Prepped during the end of the spring semester, the students involved diligently worked during the summer (for extra credits, of course), and now their hard work paid off. Tall stalks of various corns stood tall and hidden within a maze to be enjoyed by all. The event started at dusk when the sun began to set. The low hum of the horizon blazed with the colors of fire.

Most participants paid for the event ahead of time. Early bird tickets provided better parking and quicker access to join and leave. Ticket sales also took place at the gate.

Past the gate, cups representing the schools collected the tickets. The more tickets in a school’s cup, they'd receive a greater amount of funds.
