This server is all about the scientific study of neurons, the systems they form, and the complex behaviour that emerges from them. Our community is passionate about diving deep into the core principles of neuroscience, from cellular processes to large-scale neural networks. We aim to stay closely connected to the raw and foundational body of knowledge in the field, keeping discussions grounded in the latest research and discoveries.
The server icon originates from Santiago Ramón y Cajal (1852 - 1934) who is known as the grandfather of modern neuroscience. It shows a drawing of neurons as he observed it through a microscope by colouring thin slices of a pigeon's cerebellum (see: Golgi's method). The server banner (IMBA, Lancaster, CC BY-SA 4.0, changes made: contrast and resolution digitally enhanced) shows a cross-section of an entire cerebral organoid.
